Professional Ethics Meeting Locations

All of the remaining class meetings for Philosophy 3340 (Foundations of Professional Ethics) will be held in the recitation section rooms (no more lecture meetings in BH 103).  The recitation section rooms are the ones in which the tests were given.  If you are uncertain where your recitation section meets, check the course syllabus (which can be accessed on this site by clicking on "courses", and then on the link for this course) and/or contact me at andrew.piker@tamucc.edu.

According to the Independent (UK), Switzerland is likely to approve a national referendum extending legal rights and legal representation to animals.

Second Professional Ethics Test Study Guide

The second test in PHIL 3340 will be on Wed. March 3 (for MW 5:30 students) and Th. March 4 (Tr 2 and TR 4 students).  The test will be in the recitation section rooms, except for students in section 116 (TR 2, Piker, S&T/Nursing) and section 118 (TR 2, Ramirez, Educ).  Students in sections 116 and 118 will take the test in BH 103.  To access the study guide for the test, please click here.

Three in Ten Texans Believe "The Flintstones" is a Documentary

The Texas Tribune reports the results of a UT/Tribune poll:

  • 51 percent disagree with the statement, "Human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals."
  • 38 percent agree with the statement, "God created human beings pretty much in their present form about 10,000 years ago."
  • 30 percent agree with the statement, "Humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time."

Philosophy Club Coffee Talk 2-16-10

The Philosophy Club is hosting a coffee talk tonight, Tuesday 2/16, beginning 7:30 p.m. at Coffee Waves.  The goal of this meeting will be to consider questions so as to frame the discussion for next Wednesday's (2/24, 7:00 p.m., CI-113) big event, The Afghanistan War Panel: Is Afghanistan a Just War?  Everyone is welcome!

The first test in PHIL 3340 will be on Monday Feb. 8 (for MW 5:30 students), and on Tuesday Feb. 9 (for TR 2 and TR 4 students).  The test will be given in recitation section rooms rather than the lecture room, except for students in section 116 (TR 2, Piker, S&T) and section 118 (TR 2, Ramirez, Educ.). Students in sections 116 and 118 will take the test in the lecture room (BH 103). 

Professional Ethics Supplemental Instruction

Ian Benjamin is the supplemental instructor for PHIL 3340, Foundations of Professional Ethics.  He is a TAMU-CC student who has taken PHIL 3340 before (and did extremely well in the class), and also served as a supplemental instructor for the class last semester.  He will be conducting supplemental instruction sessions at the following times:
